PARENT GUIDE

TOPICS OF INTEREST
  • Parents are able to submit questions and/or ideas to the liaison (a parent volunteer). Then, the liaison, anonymously, submits them to the faculty. These questions will be answered and these responses will be sent out to all current parents.

The parent liaison role enables parents to provide feedback to Wy’ East on various aspects of the program in a more formalized and structured way. As well as, ask questions to get ahead of rumors that might be starting. Having a more formal channel enables Wy’ East to respond more effectively and be more proactive.

    Some guidelines, for any feedback:

    •      Feedback should have evidence and examples where possible.

    •      If suggestions for improvement to program –why and how will this be of benefit?

    •      Any issues relating to a specific athlete and/or of a sensitive nature should still be dealt with between parents and staff regarding behavior, specific education questions relating to your child.

Feedback is invited on all aspects and elements of the program: training, academics, wellness, behavioral management, and campus life, to name a few.

The parent liaison also facilitates parent volunteers for parent’s weekend, fundraising events, graduation, and other school events.

  • Our cabins are our students' homes while at the Academy, and we want them to be a restful, comfortable space. Cabins are separated by gender, and are fully furnished with twin bunks, a kitchenette, a storage room, closets, a full bathroom, and a living area with couches to relax on. Students will share a room with no more than one other student, in either a three bedroom unit or a studio unit.

Students have full access to campus facilities including the outdoor skatepark, called the Concrete Jungle, B.O.B., featuring indoor skating, trampolines, and a Bag Jump air bag, workout facilities, student lounge and dining area.

  • Self-service laundry facilities are available on campus at no additional cost. Students will need to provide their own laundry detergent.

  • Travel trips for competitions and training may be anywhere from 3 to 10 days each. This travel expense is not included in tuition and is billed separately in advance of the trip. Teams usually travel 2-3 times per semester. Trip costs range $500 for a local short trip to $2000+ for an international longer trip. All trips are optional.

  • Based on past history, an amount of approximately $20-$50 per week is adequate for personal spending. It is required that all students bring with them a Debit Card linked to an active bank account and a wallet. There are a number of local banks where a bank account may be set up for your student (i.e. Chase Bank, Wells Fargo, Bank of America).

Please recommend that your student take full advantage of the meals and snacks available on campus (there is no need to purchase food unless the student so desires— we will always provide nutritious and delicious food options on campus).

  • Tuition fees do not include any provisions for personal, medical or property insurance. It is mandatory that each student provides proof of health insurance. International students must provide proof of traveler’s insurance. At time of enrollment, students and families will complete mandatory forms including a consent to treat, a liability waiver, insurance information, and immunization information.
