Skate Summer School Credit Recovery

Hit summer school with style as we help make sure you are on track for graduating.

Presented by: Wy’East Academy

Dates: June 2 - August 10

Price: $5500 for 3 weeks

OVERVIEW

The skate summer credit recovery is for those that might need to already be doing summer school but would like to get a bunch of skating in at the same time. At the end of the session our campus is hosting the Tactics Northwest Open.  Currently up to $20,000 in cash prizes, we will work to get you a spot in the event or make sure you have VIP access.

What would the Academy mean for you?  Choose an emphasis between 1 of our 3 options knowing we do it all:

  1. Industry Internship/Job (our goal is to line you up with the right people who lay out what they want to see for hiring future candidates into their company)

  2. Influencer (find your niche, in that you will love to post anything around it which is the biggest thing for social media growth; consistency)

  3. Become a skate pro (we will run Mock events during our training sessions as we are firm believers that in order to ride your best you have to train even harder, training should be some of the scariest times of your life).

Another big thing that we like to celebrate at the Academy is currently we have 100% College acceptance from all seniors.  We believe that having many options to go into when you graduate is a big key to putting you in a good place to start out on your own as a young adult.

THE GYM

In order to become a top athlete nowadays it is important to be strong both physically and mentally. Our campus includes a full gym where our kids will spend their morning building strength and endurance to become stronger on their board. By working hard in the gym we can increase the ability of our bodies to take hits and stay healthy.

ON THE BOARD

To be the best skater you can be, you need to spend many hours on the skateboard. Our program is designed to optimize confidence, comfort, speed, and style of a skater in high stress situations like competitions, or big parks. We will be spending between 4 and 6 hours on the board with a breakdown of 2 hours of riding in the morning and 4 hours in the afternoon. Part of that training time will include reviewing videos to help students visual changes that need to occur or reinforce the positive changes that have been made.

The Wy’East Academy campus has all the tools needed; The Concrete Jungle, Backyard Bowl, Courtyard Park, B.O.B. (Building Out Back) Indoor Skatepark, Trampolines, Gym and Airbag. In addition to our campus we will explore some of the countless skateparks the Pacific Northwest has to offer. At the end of the session our campus is hosting the Northwest Open.  Last year between 400-500 skaters gathered each day as a community on campus to compete and inspire.

THE ACADEMY CAMPUS

Private 89,000 Sq feet of Indoor/Outdoor Skate park and 28 acre campus to explore.  Having our campus mostly to yourself will make for a unique experience that is rare to get in this day of age with areas getting packed out with participants.

Indoor airbag:  Get used to trying out an airbag for the first time with this smaller jump inside our building out back (BOB).  Perfect for beginners but also caters to experts.

Maximize hours on 4 different Olympic trampolines for air awareness.  Learn how to fall on something that is way more forgiving then what's typically in a skatepark.  Having air awareness gives you that much more comfort in being able to react easier when things go wrong.  Also starting tricks on a trampoline gives you more comfort for when you want to try it on your skateboard.

World Class Gym for strength and conditioning. Being strong is the best thing for injury prevention, built into the daily schedule Monday - Friday. Come learn how to do some exercises that you take home with you for the rest of the year until you come and see us again.

Mezzanine for stretching, core workouts and spin bikes.  Starting your training each day with dynamic stretching of some sort is another thing we want to teach you while you are out with us.

OUR COACHES

BRIAN JOHNSON

Brian came to the academy in May of last year with a comprehension of skateboarding that continues to inspire our team and kids.  Having the right people that we surround ourselves with is one of the keys to life and if you are wanting to find your spot in the skateboard industry or kickstart your life with someone who will always have your best interest in mind then Brian is your guy.  He’s had 14 years of experience running the Skateboard Program at Woodward West, he’s been a pro, he's a pleasure to be around and always does what it takes to make sure we are performing at our best with a smile on our faces.  I wish I could go back and repeat highschool so I could have had Brian as my coach, I promise you he will not disappoint!

WILL STEPHENS

When I think of Will, I think of someone who is hungry for skateboarding and life.  A ball of stoke would also be a good tagline for him, if you are not stoked then find Will and I guarantee you will be inspired to do something or tell him to do something and he will try anything.  Will came into the summer camp environment two years ago and he unfortunately broke his ankle right before camp started, maybe not unfortunate for the Academy as he stayed on me about other potential opportunities and that he would be healed much faster then the doctor was telling him.  Finding how to do it your way and not taking no for an answer is a key to Will’s art form and why he’s such a great skater to learn from.
