Skateboard OVERVIEW
SKATEBOARD
The Wy’East Mountain Academy Skate Program empowers students through a holistic approach to skateboarding and education, helping them grow into well-rounded individuals in all aspects of life. We believe skateboarding is more than just a sport—it’s a way of life. Whether you’re just starting out and learning the basics, fine-tuning your skills, or training competitively, we offer a comprehensive program for all levels. Our goal is to provide skate-specific training that enables students to maximize their potential as both athletes and individuals.
Goal Oriented
We use a specific goal setting system to lay the foundation for success and accountability unique to each individual skateboarder. Step one to this system is establishing KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators). This is where both short and long term goals are established. The skateboard program KPI’s are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-Based (SMART Goals), which are transparent to parents, students, coaches, life coaches, and academic staff. It is this entire 360 Support system that helps ensure student growth and success at all stages.
Industry Outreach
Over the decades, and through our connection with Seek Skateboard Camp, we’ve built countless lasting relationships within the skateboarding community. We leverage these connections to give our students a firsthand look at life inside the skateboard industry. This includes industry visits to companies like Deluxe Distribution, Volcom, and Vans, to collaborations with non-profit organizations like Skate After School, and even meeting skateboarders who’ve transitioned into roles such as graphic designers, sales professionals, marketers, and more. Through our industry outreach, we provide students with unique experiences and opportunities to build their own relationships with brands they resonate with.

Fall Semester
During the fall semester, our focus is on encouraging students to push beyond their comfort zones and skate everything. We make the most of our exceptional on-campus facilities and the hundreds of skateparks throughout the Pacific Northwest. With abundant options in Oregon and Washington, students are exposed to new features and environments, fostering creativity and freedom to experiment. Additionally, we take two week-long trips during the semester, one to San Francisco and another to Southern California, to visit colleges and industry hubs.
Winter Semester
During the winter semester, the skate team makes full use of our 12,000-square-foot indoor concrete skatepark. Designed to cater to every skateboarder, the park features a wide variety of terrain, from street to transition, accommodating all skill levels from beginner to advanced. Additionally, B.O.B. (the Building Out Back) offers an Olympic-sized super trampoline, two flybed trampolines, and a 20×20’ airbag—perfect for dialing in new tricks before taking them to the concrete. The team travels three to four times during the semester, culminating in a trip to Phoenix, Arizona, to watch and compete in the PHXAM competition. Students also participate in four to five Seek Skate competitions throughout the season.
Summer Semester
Warm, sunny weather during the summer semester allows students to fully enjoy our 28-acre campus and the Concrete Jungle, our 78,000 sq. ft. outdoor skatepark uniquely designed to offer a wide variety of terrain. The campus buzzes with the sound of skaters cheering each other on as they land new tricks for the first time. Wy’East Academy students also connect with Seek Skate Camp life, benefiting from sessions with pro skaters, personalized clinics, and dozens of activities alongside like-minded peers. We encourage students to use this time to take extra classes, lightening their academic load for the fall and winter semesters. With endless access to skateparks and outdoor adventures like hikes and waterfalls, summer at Wy’East is truly one of a kind.
